Data loss sucks. I had to endure it multiple times until I bit the bullet and bought an external hard drive for backups. (I own 3 now. That money bought me some peace of mind. If my house ever caught fire, or if there was a flood, those 3 small boxes would be among the belongings I could grab and run with.)
